From side hustle to start up

Many of us have the perfect idea for a side hustle.

Whether crafty at the craft markets or innovative and inventive when the time is right, whenever the light bulb moment occurs, turn that side hustle into more than just a pipe dream.

Having a side hustle means you are contending with a full-time job and monetising on a hobby or craft you love.

However, with Facebook groups and sites such as Chooice side-hustles can evolve and outgrow the day job. All over New Zealand, we are seeing a rise of side hustles and it is not just millennials making the most of turning their passions into a business.

With grandparents and those just retiring also using their knowledge and experience to earn some extra income.

Over the years, we at Cutshop® have seen our fair share of people turning their money-making ideas into the money-making reality.

So how do you do it and where can Cutshop® help you?

How Can Cutshop® Help a Side Hustle?

Do you have an idea for a sweet little side table, or want to turn your art into wall art? A side-hustle that requires you physically making or constructing a product can leave you up all night and at the weekends keeping up with demand.

With Cutshop®, you can give us your idea with a sketch and a detailed conversation and we can save you time. The beauty of using a CNC machine is that it dramatically increases your productivity whilst decreasing your sleepless nights.

We can produce large quantities of your product affordably. Turning a hobby into an income stream runs the risk of turning something you love into a chore. Be wary of becoming your work, enjoy your life, keep your overheads down and make your side-hustle do the work for you.

If you are at the point where you just have an idea, a desk that folds away into a piece of wall art or a clock with a unique cut out, but you are not sure what material will be right for the job. We have years of experience and expert knowledge at your beck and call.

Are you lacking the right tools to get the job done? Instead of forking out a huge sum of your cash flow on tools, utilise our CNC machines and edging equipment to get a professional product.

We can create prototypes for you with advice on a variety of materials, to ensure you get the right look and high quality for your concept.

We are available across all of New Zealand as we can deliver nationwide and with a quick turn around too.

dinorockers

Nigel Banks came to Cutshop® Waikato to turn his idea of merging his love of dinosaurs with a rocking horse and created Dinorockers.

Sara Pearson utilised Cutshop® North Shore to turn her ideas for a sleek height chart and a natural wood play gym into a start-up and created Boldkids.

It was definitely a process, for the rulers, we did some tests on MDF to get the numbers and ruler markers to the look that we wanted.

Manufacturing your own products can be quite difficult, but Cutshop did make the whole thing a lot easier and I’m glad we decided to do our cutting with them - by far the most helpful from the outset.

They were easy to deal with and they had time for us even as a small business starting out. It was so nice to be taken seriously.

The greatest thing about working with Cutshop is the limitless potential to be creative and make absolutely anything. They say ‘you draw it, we’ll make it’, and it’s true!

Throughout this global pandemic, and during lockdown we have seen a multitude of people using their creativity to turn their side hustle into a business. From producing face masks to building sanitiser stands like this one, during this time of change, take the next step and take your hobby from hustle to high end.

At the beginning of every side hustle, there is a risk of losing your home and garage to store products, tools and packaging.

We can even help there.

Keep your home from becoming a disorganized array of materials and equipment, paint and tools by working with Cutshop® to create bespoke storage. Cutshop® can help you organise your home so you can declutter your mind as well as the floor space.

Take the time to evaluate what you want out of your work and life.

Could your side hustle become your start up business?

Be brave and start your side-hustle today.
