More in less.

Helping the trade produce more in less time.

‘Time is money’ as the saying goes.

In this post, we talk to Paul Shepherd, owner of Design Edge Kitchens, to discover how Cutshop® helps him to produce more kitchens in less time.

Design Edge Kitchens designs and manufactures medium- to high-end kitchen, bathroom and wardrobe cabinetry — from measuring up to design and installation. It is a small business, consisting of Paul and a colleague, which means clients receive a very personalised service.

Trends in kitchen design come and go. According to Paul, an uncluttered look with clean lines and slim cabinet handles is popular at the moment. He says there is also a big demand for hardwearing acrylic cabinet doors.

A kitchen in Forrest Hill

Recently, Paul designed and installed a kitchen for a client in Forrest Hill on Auckland’s North Shore.

“It was a pretty big kitchen with engineered stone benchtops and Blum soft-closing drawers and hinges,” he says.

The client, Paul explains, had a nice house and wanted the kitchen to match.

“They originally had an old pine kitchen and it wasn’t designed very well.  They wanted more room, easier access and better storage.”

Working with Cutshop®

Cutshop® works with trade customers who require materials to be cut, edged or drilled. We can cut almost anything, including MDF, solid timber, plywood, perspex and aluminium.  Paul used Cutshop® to cut, drill and edge the cabinetry components for his Forrest Hill client.

It was an easy process: I just phoned David from Cutshop®, drew up a plan, which specified the sizes of individual units, and emailed it through.  The components were delivered to my factory four days later.

Doing more in less time

Paul says that Cutshop® enables him to put through two or three kitchens in the same time that it used to take for one. He also doesn’t need to stock as much board as he used to.

“I have plenty of room in my factory, but over the last few years I’ve expanded and can’t keep up with managing all the materials. The fact that I can order the board from Cutshop® to be delivered ready for installation is perfect for me.”

Paul finds Cutshop® very easy to deal with.

It just takes a phone call and a plan. If anything goes wrong, they jump straight away and there’s no pressure or stress. They just deal with it. The people at Cutshop produce good work which, with my name at stake, is the main thing.
