Kitchen design like no other

Norman Smith is the manager of the consulting engineering company, Anvil Design Group Ltd. Having worked with Rocket Labs, Tesla and SpaceX (just to name a few…), Norman is no stranger to outside-the-box, ahead-of-the-game thinking.

After running a weather station with Waste Management some 27 years ago, Norman started to notice the temperatures rising in the country. Combining this discovery with having experienced living through a significant hurricane up in Darwin once, Norman had the idea to build a home for himself that would be able to withstand the possibility of new extreme weather conditions as the earth’s climate continues to change.

His home, out in Mairangi Bay, is in the form of a dome!

For years, the kitchen wasn’t really ideal for the size and shape of the house, and that’s how Norman came to work with the Cutshop® Mt Wellington team.

Being circular both externally and internally, side-on and birds-eye-view, with very tricky curves and angling to get right, Dave Ware from Crockett Property Management (with whom Norman was working to build a new kitchen), got in touch with Cutshop®, knowing that getting precision from complicated designs was an achievable goal.

Wonderful outcomes

After 3D modeling plans had been finalised, Norman had chosen the colours of Melteca and discussed with Karl how the kitchen would flow, the Cutshop® team made some minor tweaks to the design specs to fit the hinges and sliders, then everything was set up and cut to order!

This collaboration was the first time Norman had experienced working with Cutshop®, but was very impressed with the outcomes and happy Dave had recommended the team for the task.

The whole thing was efficient, flat packed and professionally done. It was easily labelled and installation only took a few days.

The pricing was very reasonable, and the final cuts were so sharp and precise! I would not hesitate to use Cutshop in the future if the opportunity presents itself.
