A dream kitchen with supreme functionality

Nicole and husband Morgan had big dreams for their new kitchen however knew that for the very specific detail and materials required it would likely be out of their price range. After working with Cutshop® they were beyond thrilled with what they were able to achieve.

It was the first time Nicole had worked with Cutshop® so she wasn’t quite sure how the process worked. After getting in touch with Dave at the North Shore branch he asked them to come in to have a chat in person.

It was the easiest process and we found Dave to be very approachable. We went in with our design on excel and sat down and just had a good talk through what we wanted to achieve.

He helped us and walked us through what we needed for example figuring out panel sizes etc. While we were there we looked at material options as well for cabinetry and hardware – it was very comprehensive.

My resounding thoughts after that first meeting was that Dave made the entire project look quite simple, much easier than what I thought it would be so we felt quite reassured early on that we had made the right decision.

Following on from this first meeting Nicole tweaked the design a little and had more questions as to how to achieve what it was that she wanted.

I don’t like having appliances on our surfaces so I needed to chat to them about how we could go about achieving a hidden drawer inside our pantry which when pressed it pulls out onto the bench, then push back when you have finished.

For Nicole, the expertise they were able to draw from also meant that issues they hadn’t factored in were addressed early on in the planning stages.

Through discussions with Cutshop® we came to realise the oven didn’t match the full height of the cabinet which meant there was space below we didn’t have a purpose for. It was then a matter of trying to decide whether we put a panel there so it matched everything else or put in place a push open drawer or flip open cupboard.

Another reason why Nicole found the entire process simple and safe was because Cutshop® was a little like a one-shop-wonder.

They provided us with all our pre-cut raw materials for our kitchen cabinetry, including the internal structures as well as the hardware for those such as hinges and track runners etc. They also provided advice on interior drawer organisers and dispensers for foils and baking paper and so on which was super helpful.

The entire project was smooth sailing with only one part of the process they needed to wait on which was a specific material – PSP Luxe board in dark grey with a super matte finish which they love as it’s perfect for disguising fingerprints and marks.

All the effort in planning really paid off and the end result is an incredibly unique and highly functional kitchen they love to be in and are proud of.

We had spent a lot of time thinking about how we were going to use the space, how we would cook, how we would move around, when you’re at the dishwasher and when you’re cooking what do you reach for and want close at hand. We really thought it through and now it is this functionality which we most love about the kitchen.

As a first-time Cutshop® customer Nicole was so impressed that she has gone back to the North-Shore branch with a plan to get a proto-type for a highchair booster to fit the kitchen island. Her trust in the end product will most likely continue on with future projects yet to be dreamed of.

I thought there would be hidden complexities that would make the entire exercise really challenging however this wasn’t the case, it didn’t feel daunting and Dave was very informative, and just so easy to work with!
